Ewa Marcinek (PL)

From Poland. In Reykjavík since 2013. Educated in culture studies, creative writing and art, I’m passionate about words and stories. One of the founding authors of Ós Pressan, a non-profit initiative designed to bring out and promote new authors and to create an inclusive writing community in Iceland. A poet at Rauða Skáldahúsið (The Poetry Brothel Reykjavik), a fully bilingual cabaret that takes poetry outside classrooms and coffee houses and places it in the lush interiors of the bordello.
A Polish language consultant for theatre and film (Þjóðleikhúsið, Gaflaraleikhúsið, Rekjavík Ensemble), working with Icelandic actors, playwrights and filmmakers. A writer and project manager at Rekjavík Ensemble, a new International Theatre Company, founded and artistically directed by Pálína Jónsdóttir. Thriving on teaching, language consulting, collaboration projects and event organising.
My texts have been published in Icelandic journals, exhibited during festivals and art shows in Iceland and abroad. I play around with private and public identities, personal stories and memories. I write mostly in Polish and English while polishing my Icelandic.
